One World Week 2024 Training

Our OWW training is an invitation for youth workers to step in to their power as educators and change makers, to feel confident and resourced. This training will equip participants with a power analysis, and skills in working with and taking action on the Sustainable Development Goals.

RESOURCING MINORITY-LED RIGHTS-BASED WORK Articulating your vision and understanding how to fund and resource your work November 2024 to June 2025

For the past year, NYCI and The Rowan Trust have been working on a collaborative granting scheme. After the 1 year review it has been decided to run a series of workshops and masterclasses to support potential beneficiaries to resource and fund their work with young people. This will happen through a mix of three in-person sessions, prerecorded “info vignettes”, and online optional meetings held over 8 months from October 2024 to June 2025.  

Transforming Hate in Youth Work Settings

This training focuses on tackling hateful speech or behaviours in real and lasting ways. We come from the premise that hate and discrimination will not be changed by taking a punitive approach. The training gives tools to the youth worker to build their self-awareness, learn the principles of compassionate communication and adopt a needs-based approach to bring about lasting change.

Specialist Certificate in Youth Mental Health Promotion – September 2024 – May 2025

The National Youth Health Programme delivers the Specialist Certificate in Youth Health Promotion in conjunction with University of Galway every second year. The course aims to encourage, support and facilitate youth organisations to become effective settings for health.

Programme Award: Certificate in Health Promotion (Level 7) – Specialist Certificate in Youth Health Promotion awarded by University of Galway.

Specialist Certificate in Youth Mental Health Promotion – September 2024 – May 2025

The National Youth Health Programme delivers the Specialist Certificate in Youth Health Promotion in conjunction with University of Galway every second year. The course aims to encourage, support and facilitate youth organisations to become effective settings for health.

Programme Award: Certificate in Health Promotion (Level 7) – Specialist Certificate in Youth Health Promotion awarded by University of Galway.

NUI Certificate Global Youth Work and Development Education

The new NUI Certificate in Global Youth Work and Development Education is a Level 8, Special Purpose award delivered by the National Youth Council of Ireland in partnership with the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

NUI Certificate in Youth Arts

Part-time course in Youth Arts practice delivered in partnership by the National Youth Arts Programme and Maynooth University. The NUI Certificate in Youth Arts aims to introduce those working in the youth sector to the concepts, principles and practice of youth arts using a context and practice approach.

Global Youth Work – online learning module

The National Youth Council of Ireland in collaboration with Maynooth University has developed a new interactive online learning module on Global Youth Work. The module includes animations, interviews with youth work sector and Global Citizenship Education stakeholders, tools and resources addressing three key areas – Understanding Globalisation; Principles and Practice; & a transformative youth work practice model.

Youth Work and You – International Youth Work elearning course

National Youth Council of Ireland and Léargas in collaboration with Maynooth University have developed  a new interactive online learning module on international youth work.

Online Safety and Awareness in Youth Work eLearning Course

An elearning to support the youth work sector to keep young people safe online.

Relationship Education and Sexuality Wellbeing in the Youth Work Sector eLearning

This e-learning is a building block for you to strengthen your capacity in supporting young people to develop their sexual health.
