This introduction to social justice workshop will support you to reflect on Justice as a centrally motivating principle in youth work. We want to explore integrating a commitment to social justice in your work, and to reflect on how social justice principles are at the heart of a critical youth work practice.
This training takes place in three parts.
We start with getting curious about Justice as a principle and what meanings and values we each attach to the word. We will then look at how we all exist in a socially constructed world, and what justice might mean for our different but shared realities. Our identity, how we are brought up, the different experiences we are exposed to, all influence how we engage with the world around us and shape our experiences with Justice.
We will also take time to explore the intersection of Inequality and Justice.
Finally, in the ‘What are you on about?’ section, we consider how we can bring social justice principles to life in our work with young people.
This full day training is designed to be delivered in-person with youth work organisations.
This workshop includes:
- An exploration of Justice, its meanings and impact.
- Considering Justice as something that is shaped by context and something that is socially constructed.
- The interplay between Justice and Inequality.
- Practical ways to bring social justice principles to life in your work.
