New NYCI research shows role of youth work near universally valued by public

More than 9 in 10 adults believe youth work plays a role in helping young people integrate into communities. Research carried out by RED C on behalf of the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), shows a near universal belief among the public that youth work organisations provide important non-formal education for young people in communities.

The Vision for Youth Work, developed together by stakeholders across the youth sector, sets out a vision for the future direction of youth work in Ireland over the next 10 years, where ‘All young people living in Ireland have access to high-quality, well-resourced youth work services, which meet their expressed needs, delivered by paid professionals and well-supported volunteers.’

NYCI welcomes broad Seanad support of Vote at 16 Bill, but disappointment at delay

NYCI welcomed the widespread support garnered by the "Vote at 16" Bill, as it was discussed in the Seanad. The proposed Bill, introduced by Senator Malcolm Byrne, aimed to extend the vote to 16- and 17-year-olds for Local and European elections, a move that has gained momentum in recent years.
