About the Fund

The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) Global Youth Work team in association with Irish Aid is delighted to invite applications for our Seed Grants worth up to €400. The OWW Seed Fund is an opportunity to explore an aspect of our global world, and to make local-global connections in your work.

Applications are now closed as we have reached capacity.

All projects are to be completed by October 2023.

All projects to be completed by One World Week 2023, where we will have a Seed Fund project showcase.

Who can apply?

Any group that works within the non-formal youth sector.

Why should I apply?

Receive a grant of up to €400 to explore an aspect of our global world, with a group of young people.
Take part in free training with the Youth2030 expert team to help you develop your own project idea. Get curious and build confidence to talk about key issues like, the environment, the economy, technology, politics and culture with a group of young people.
Benefit from connections, ideas and support from the Youth 2030 team, to help you get the most out of your seed grant and bring your ideas to life!

Funding Criteria

OWW training is required as part of this funding, please register interest here, (training is free).
One World Week will take place online and in person in 2023, a blended approach. As part of this grant, you will be expected to attend at least one event for OWW 2023.
If you are organising a local event during One World Week in your community, please send us the date, time, and location as soon as possible so that it can be advertised on our One World Week website.
Please ensure visibility of your local event in local media, online and through any other promotional channels available to your group. A toolkit on working with media during OWW will be provided by NYCI to grant recipients. All publicity must include the wording “This is a One World Week Project with the support of Youth 2030 at the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI)”
Please use recycled material wherever possible for arts-based activities
NYCI will not fund the purchase of any materials such as T-shirts, baseball caps, etc to be used in the creation of local actions for One World Week.

What else do I need to know before I apply?

Your project can be stand-alone or part of a bigger project i.e., it might be part of a One World Week event.

Projects should explore themes that have a social justice focus and that has both a local and a global dimension.
We welcome projects that include political, economic, technological, environmental, and cultural dimensions. (We call these the five faces of globalisation).
We welcome projects that explore some of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly what they mean to your community, and how these connect you to the wider world.
Consider the Personal, Local, National, and Global dimensions of your project – (we call these the PLiNGs!).
