Important Information to support Application Form
The Certificate in Development Education and Global Youth Work provides practitioners with a strong grounding in the theory of development education, supporting individuals to develop a range of competencies in development education practice within their organisation.
The aim of the course is to support and facilitate youth organisations to become effective settings for Global Youth Work and Development Education and to develop and deliver ‘a whole organisational approach’ to promoting this.
To support practitioners, develop a whole organisational approach and bring the learning back to their organisations, the Certificate provides an opportunity to create a structured framework for implementation in the participants youth work organisation.
We see implementation as operating at 4 distinct levels:
- Developing Personal Skills
- Creating Critical Learning Spaces
- Practice and Policy Development
- Participation in Development Education networks and committees
To ensure the development of good practice, along with the continued fostering of a culture of quality and continuous improvement, we request the applicants document in their application form, their capacity to implement Global Youth Work and Development Education within their organisations.
Please do not be discouraged if you feel you can not answer all parts of application fully. We are looking for a range of skills and backgrounds within a youth work context and will consider all applications carefully.
Application process
We request that applications be submitted no later than 5pm on the 31st January.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to participate in a short phone interview on week beginning 10th February.
Cost
The fee for the Certificate is €500. We require a deposit of €50, to secure a place.
Payment
We request payment in two stages, the first payment should be submitted on commencement of the course.
