Working remotely initially, then at NYCI offices (3 Montague St, Dublin 2) with out-of-office work and travel throughout Ireland
Hours of Work
Full-time 35 hours per week, some evening and weekend work required

Permanent (subject to annual funding)
Salary Band
Programme Manager band: €51,237 – €60,558: placement on the band will be commensurate with experience
Annual Leave
27 days per annum

Role and Purpose
- To lead NYCI’s Youth Arts Programme, which aims to promote quality youth arts practice in the youth work sector.
- We work with our members organisations, the wider youth work and non-formal education sector to realise the potential of young people through good quality youth arts practice.
- This is mainly achieved through the development of appropriate policies and activities at local, regional, and national level.
- The post-holder will also supervise and line-manage the work of the Youth Arts team which currently consists of a Project Officer and external trainers and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- To lead the development and implementation of a range of capacity and professional development training and activities, products and services for the youth work and arts sector.
- Co-ordinate, develop and deliver Youth Arts Certificate in conjunction with Maynooth University.
- To oversee and manage the Artist in Residency Grant Scheme (supported by Arts Council and DCEDIY).
- To lead, coach, manage, support, and supervise the work of programme staff, external trainers, and contractors.
- To manage contracts with service providers.
- To liaise with NYCI’s Finance Director in planning and managing programme finances.
- To coordinate and support NYCI Youth Arts Partners Group.
- To build and sustain relationships with funders and partners.
- To ensure Youth Arts Programme’s evaluation and monitoring framework is in line with NYCI’s overall framework.
- To develop and implement a programme communications plan partnership with NYCI’s Communication team.
- To coordinate/prepare reports for management, NYCI’s board, the advisory and steering groups, and funders.
- To develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the youth work, youth arts and wider non-formal education sector.
- To further develop relationships with ETB’s and Arts sector regionally through Regional Youth Arts Hubs.
- To oversee relevant needs assessments relating to youth arts and monitor trends and to support the design of projects, products, and services in response.
- To advocate on behalf of the youth arts within the wider youthwork and arts sectors as well as across relevant aligned.
- To lead the development and review of NYCI’s Statement of Youth Arts Strategy.
- To seek opportunities to expand and further develop NYCI’s Youth Arts Programme.
- To be a key member of the NYCI team in achieving the strategic aims of the organisation.
- To represent NYCI on relevant working groups and committees.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTAINMENTS
Essential:
- 3rd Level Qualification in a relevant discipline: youth work Arts-related area, youth/community work, education, participatory or community arts.
Desirable:
- Post-graduate Arts Qualification
- Other relevant professional qualifications: e.g., Leadership and Management, Facilitation
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- 5 Years Post qualification work experience in the youth work or arts sector.
- Minimum of 3 years management and experience of staff supervision and team management.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Project Management, preferably in a Youth Work, Youth Arts, or related field.
- Experience of Policy and Best Practice Development, preferably in an Arts or related field.
KNOWLEDGE
Essential:
- Youth Work and Arts policies, issues, and current priorities.
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of the principals and practices of youth arts in a youthwork context.
- Knowledge of the Youth Work, Arts, and non-formal education sectors in Ireland
