Reporting to
National Child Protection Programme Manager, National Youth Council of Ireland, with overall accountability to the Director and Board of NYCI.
Location
Office base will be at 3, Montague Street, Dublin 2 with travel for work required. NYCI is currently piloting a hybrid model of working.
Hours of Work
35 hours per week (some flexibility will be required, such as evening/weekend work).
Duration
Permanent (subject to ongoing annual funding).
Remuneration
€35,779 – €48,408

Child Safeguarding
NYCI is committed to safeguarding and protection of children and young people in line with Children First Act 2015 and Children First National Guidance. Role and Purpose
The National Child Protection Programme Trainer will deliver the suite of safeguarding trainings of the National Child Protection Programme, to the youth work sector. This is a dynamic role requiring a strong track record in training delivery, child protection knowledge and experience, good project management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Own and coordinate the delivery of the National Child Protection Programme’s training programmes.
Training Delivery:
- Delivery of core child protection training programmes.
- Design and delivery of speciality child protection training programmes.
- Support delivery of events related to child protection issues as they arise, to build capacity in the sector.
- Build partnerships to collaborate on training events.
- Maintaining, reviewing and updating training materials.
- Review and reflection on training evaluations to ensure trainings meet the needs of participants.
Training Administration:
- Administration as related to the delivery of training.
- Working with child protection programme administrator to organise training logistics, finance, record-keeping etc.
Working in collaboration with the Child Protection Programme Manager on training design and development.
Contribute to the development of the National Child Protection Programme strategic goals in line with NCYI’s Strategic Plan.
Any other tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
Person Specification
Experience/Attributes
Essential:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a trainer or in child protection/safeguarding.
- Knowledge and experience of child protection and safeguarding with a commitment to safeguarding children and young people from harm and an understanding of the issues they face.
- Excellent organisational/time management skills and multi-tasking experience, with an ability to prioritise work
- A self-starter and team player who will roll up their sleeves to complete any task necessary.
- The ability to bring innovative and new ways of working, embrace change, and be solution focused.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and provide support to youth work organisations.
- Attention to detail and dynamic problem-solving skills.
- Experience in quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, Team’s and Outlook.
Desirable:
- Not for profit experience.
