The YMCA is a non-denominational Christian youth movement whose services and programmes are open to people of all faiths and of none.
The YMCA is made up of local associations which operate in over 20 communities throughout the island. The YMCA seeks through its local associations to develop services and programmes which are responsive to the needs of young people. Consequently there is a wide range of programmes on offer which focus on outdoor education, vocational training, youth information, health education, homelessness, global youth work, faith development, peace and reconciliation and family youth work.
The National Council of YMCA’s is the umbrella body for the Irish YMCA movement and provides a range of support services to local YMCAs as well as providing links to the European and World Alliance of YMCAs.
