DESCRIPTION

Please note this training will take place ‘in-person’ in the Northside Youth Space in Limerick on April 12th.

This training will support youth workers and youth arts workers to gain practical and creative skills in street arts techniques when working with young people.

This practical, hands-on training aims to bring together youth workers, volunteers, and youth arts practitioners to develop new skills, methods, and digital apps to use the visual arts for expression, and advocacy. Participants will be provided with inspiration on how these techniques can be used in a variety of settings, e.g. .poster campaigns or upscaled, outdoor murals.

OBJECTIVES

  • Support youth workers / youth arts practitioners to develop ideas and skills in visual creative practice.
  • Support youth workers / youth arts practitioners to develop their techniques in stencilling, spray painting and digital text.
  • Identify best practice and approaches when using creative and activities with young people.
  • Develop your creative toolkit for youth expression and youth advocacy.

DESIGNED FOR

  • Anyone working with young people in a youth work, youth arts practice, out-of-school or non-formal education setting.

DELIVERED BY

Helen O’Keeffe has worked in participatory and youth arts for about ten years. She has an MA in Art & Design Education from CCAD and considerable experience and training in art, design and youth & community work. Her professional practice has been largely shaped by her experience on MTU’s Creativity & Change course in 2010, seeing her join the staff team in 2015. She is also co-creator of mobile arts facility, Splattervan and art teacher at alternative education setting, Cork Life Centre.
