STEAM in Youth Work – Athlone

During this introductory training day you will undertake a range of STEAM* activities and gain the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate high-quality STEAM learning experiences for your young people. You will: learn how to solder; use a Makey Makey to turn an everyday object, such as a bunch of flowers, into a computer keyboard; make simple circuits; make scribble bots; and make your own speakers.
Following the training, you will receive an equipment grant and will also have access to follow-up support, resources (such as activity guides, logic models and equipment lists), networking and peer learning opportunities. Once you begin to use what you have learned in your practice, you will be eligible to apply for intermediate training days at reduced prices.
*STEAM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics

This training and support package is heavily subsidised at a cost of €100 per person. Depending on the size of the group coming from your organisation, you will receive an equipment grant worth between €55 and €100.
