Join us for a special webinar to share key research findings on creativity in youth work and consider future directions for research, practice and policy.

NYCI’s National Youth Arts Programme and partners, the Department of Applied Social Studies, Maynooth University are delighted to invite you to this special webinar as part of the SPARK Youth Arts Festival. We are excited to share evidence-based insights from a recent joint research project into how youth work uniquely supports creative development, offering practical, research-informed learning for policy, practice, and education.

What can I expect?

»    An overview and official launch of findings from a national mixed-methods doctoral study entitled Fostering young people’s creativity through youth work- A mixed method study that explores youth work’s distinctive creative potential. This research was supported by the Irish Research Council’s Employment-Based Scholarship and was conducted in partnership between the Department of Applied Social Studies, Maynooth University and the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI).

This study highlights youth work’s distinctive potential to foster creativity in young people through a cohesive new ‘Four Dimensions of Creativity’ framework. The study involved 242 youth workers and young people across 27 counties, capturing a wide range of experiences and perspectives.

»    A tour of an online virtual gallery showcasing examples of creativity within youth work practice.

»    An example of an Irish youth arts case study that demonstrates how creativity is actively fostered through youth work.

»    A panel discussion exploring the future implications of the research and how this knowledge can be applied in practice, policy, and research.
