Are you seeing increased levels of racism in your youth work setting and looking for ways to respond?
Grounded in the values of youth work and social justice, this training course supports participants to examine how racism impacts on young people’s everyday lives and to identify ways they can make a meaningful difference within their own practice and organisations.
The training supports participants to become more confident and proactive in advancing racial justice by reflecting on their own practice, recognising the influence they hold as youth workers, and committing to tangible changes within their settings.
Unlike a standalone training day, this programme offers a longer learning journey. Participants will be supported to move beyond awareness and reflection towards embedding meaningful and lasting changes in practice and organisational culture. Through training, peer learning, ongoing support, and organisational reviews, participants will work to ensure that a racial justice lens is integrated into their day-to-day work and organisational structures.
Please note: While individuals can apply to this training programme it is expected that they have the full support of their organisation to engage in this process.
The training course comprises:
• One half-day in-person session in Dublin on 15th September 10am-1pm
• Three online sessions – 10am to 1pm on October 6th, October 13th, and November 17th
• Completion of NYCI’s self-paced foundational e-learning ‘Understanding Racism for Youth Workers’ prior to the first in-person event;
• Opportunities to connect with peers, share learning and reflect on practice.
• Ongoing support from the NYCI Programme team throughout the journey.
