Peer Abuse Webinar 1st April 2025

April 1 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm IST

Peer abuse is an ongoing issue in Ireland, affecting young people across various social settings, including online platforms. The impacts of peer abuse can be long-lasting, leading to emotional distress, mental health challenges, and a breakdown of trust among peers. Join us for an important information session from the National Inter-Agency Prevention Programme (NIAPP). A community-based treatment programme for young people who have sexually abused and their families. The primary goal of this service is to prevent further sexual abuse by early intervention with young people who sexually abuse. Referrals for assessments and therapy with young people aged 3 – 18 years old are accepted where there is concern for problematic or harmful sexual behaviour.

NIAPP primarily works with adolescents and with the growing online world, NIAPP continuously supports young people who have engaged in online or contact peer abuse. Significant supports for the young people on consent and having healthy relationships is a large focus of our work alongside working with parents/carers and other services supporting these young people. NIAPP will present our service and discuss interventions and supports available to guide our adolescents towards leading abuse free lifestyles as they develop into adulthood.

This is an introductory session for youth workers to raise awareness on the issue of peer abuse and learn more about the supports available. Please complete the expression of interest form below to attend this event.
