Identify, Tackle, and Transform Hate Speech and Behaviour in Youth Settings

This new and innovative 1-day training from NYCI will raise awareness on ways to Identify, Tackle, and Transform identity hate (racism, homophobia, transphobia sexism, Islamophobia, disablism, etc. It is developed by youth workers who use Transformative Practice methods on a daily basis in their youth work settings. Focusing on the transformative power of Compassionate Communication, and how to challenge systems of oppression, it will challenge and inspire participants.
- Do you see and hear hateful language and behaviour in your youth work setting?
- Do you wonder about the best ways to respond that will be transformative for the person causing the harm and keeps the targets of hate safe and supported?
- Can it be hard to identify and name what you’ve observed as hateful: sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, disablist, faith based hate etc.?
- Can it be hard to manage it?
Are you a youth worker that experiences identity-based hate speech and behaviour in your youth work setting?
This course is delivered by the Intercultural and Equality programme of the NYCI together with a trainer who brings their professional youth worker expertise.
