Gathering the Evidence: Youth Voice, Youth Rights

June 12 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm IST

NYCI is hosting an in-person training day on Gathering the Evidence: Youth Voice, Youth Rights, an event that centres around youth workers capturing youth voices across Ireland, for the purpose of supporting youth services in gathering evidence for the needs of the young people. By gathering these needs strategically youth services can present evidence to funders, managements and board about where young people need focused support.

If you are not available for the in-person day and are interested in an online catch up session on Monday June 15th 18:00-20:00 – please also fill out the expression of interest form below.

Youth workers play a vital role in meeting the needs of young people, but in order to do this they need to have the resources in place to support their work. Evidence of young people needing these resources directly supports youth services in asking for these resources. The Youth2030 Global Youth Work Team, NYCI have been part of a partnership to create a new practical free online tool to collect this evidence. The tool is called ‘Voices for Impact’ which can be used straight away by your youth service to asses the needs of the group anonymously.

This event is open to all youth workers, youth leaders and volunteers who are committed to inclusive and responsive youth work.

Please note this is not a youth event but an event for those working with young people (over 18yr olds).

Spaces are limited, so sign up now!

What to expect

• Explore how to introduce human rights in a youth work setting.
• Engage in reflective and thought‑provoking conversations on best practice in youth work in relation to including youth voices.
• Take part in interactive workshops facilitated by practitioners who specialise in the Lundy model of participation, a framework which focuses on children’s rights to participate in decisions that affect them.
• Take away a new practical online tool, which you can use straight away.
• Build connections, share learning, and strengthen solidarity with peers across the youth work sector.

At its heart, youth work is about building relationships, walking alongside and creating spaces for young people to learn and grow. Let’s take the time to make sure as many young people as possible can avail of the youth work services they need to be their best selves.
