You are invited to a day of critical learning, reflection and connection with fellow youth workers across Ireland. This event is designed for those supporting young people through increasingly complex realities, both at home and globally. Whether it’s navigating tensions in your local community or responding to international conflicts that shape how young people see themselves and the world, this space is for you.
This is not just another training. It is a rare opportunity to pause, reflect, connect and build practical tools that help youth workers face conflict without fear. It will offer creative approaches to holding difficult conversations in your work, with a focus on community, care and justice.
Facilitated by our Global Youth Work team (NYCI) and BRAP (UK), the day will introduce process work; a powerful method used to support groups to name power dynamics, observe the unspoken, and work with emotional and political dynamics that often sit beneath the surface. The sessions will be rooted in an Irish context, while actively linking to the global issues that shape our sector, from classism and inequality to racism and displacement.
We will explore:
- What belief systems sit under the conflicts we see in youth work?
- How do we support young people without avoiding discomfort or complexity?
- What gets left out of our conversations on safety, neutrality or inclusion?
- How can we centre community and solidarity in our practice?
This event is built around the realities of youth work today, focusing on what actually happens in rooms, streets and services across Ireland. You will leave with practical insights and methods that can be brought straight into your own work, whether you are supporting a youth group in Dublin or responding to global issues in your community.
Places are limited. Lunch is provided. Your voice and presence are needed.
