‘ECOWHA?! What is Economics Anyway?!’ Young People’s Committee: Economic Inequality Poster Launch

November 20, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm GMT

Welcome to One World Week 2025

This November, we’re exploring the power of connection, community, and celebration. We’re bringing together young people, youth workers, volunteers, leaders, and educators to explore what a truly equal and just world looks like.

This year’s theme, There is Nothing Normal About Inequality, is based on the Youth2030 Global Youth Work resource, ‘From the Ground Up: Youth Power, tackling inequality with the SDGs’ One World Week Toolkit.

Together we will explore some critical questions: How do our values shape the world around us? Why is there more inequality than ever? How can we raise grassroots voices globally?

‘ECOWHA?! What is Economics Anyway?!’ Young People’s Committee: Economic Inequality Poster Launch

A closer look at economic inequality and financial injustice as explored through the lens of the Youth2030 Young People’s Committee (YPC) in collaboration with Financial Justice Ireland and artist Paola Rozo.

The YPC will co-host an online discussion with the YOUTH2030 Global Youth Work Team. This event is focused on sharing the new ‘ECOWHA?! What is Economics anyway?!’ poster. The YPC is using the poster as an accessible way to make important information available to a wide range of people. They invite you to put this up in your youth service and start a conversation on economics, asking questions like:

  • Why do we have so many billionaires?
  • Why is there more inequality than ever?
  • Does the world have to be like this?
  • Can the world work in a different way and, if so, how?

This poster was created as part of the work of the NYCI Youth2030 Young People’s Committee (YPC).

This project was completed with support from the Youth2030 Global Youth Work Team at the National Youth Council of Ireland supported by Irish Aid, in partnership with Financial Justice Ireland (as part of their DEAR-funded project, ‘Connecting the Dots’) and artist Paola Rozo from Kiluteo.
