Event Description

This is a 2-day training delivered by the Child Protection Programme for DLPs and Deputy DLPs in the youth work sector. It takes place on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th March 2025, in-person, at The Richmond Room, Carmichael House, 4 Brunswick St., Dublin 7 D07 RHA8.

The aim of this DLP Training is to give participants the opportunity to explore the role and responsibilities of being a DLP, and to give participants information and guidance on good practice to carry out this role effectively.

Participants should have a general understanding of child safeguarding and protection and must have attended child protection training (e.g. Child Protection Awareness Programme) within the last two years OR completed Tusla’s Children First e-learning on www.tusla.ie before attending this training.

Objectives

  • To set the context for the role of DLP (exploring safeguarding responsibilities, values, compliance with legislation and current policy).
  • To understand the requirements and the elements of this role (reporting, managing information, managing allegations against staff/volunteers/young people, informing parents).
  • To understand the DLP role within an Organisation.

This training is taking place at The Richmond Room, Carmichael House, 4 Brunswick St., Dublin 7 D07 RHA8.

Travel options to the venue include:

By Bus: Served by the 83 (North King Street). Dublin Bus routes that service Dublin 7 are: 11, 11A, 13A, 16, 37, 39, 70, 41, 41B, 41C, 51A, 746, 83.

By Luas: Red Line: Exit on the Four Courts/Smithfield stop or on the Green Line: exit on Broadstone – DIT stop.

By Car: Limited on-street pay & display parking available on Morning Star Avenue.

We will provide tea and coffee at the breaks and sandwiches for lunch. Please advise us of any dietary requirements by entering it onto your booking form.

Please note we require a minimum of two weeks’ notice if participants can no longer make the training. Our training is in high demand and there is significant cost to NYCI to deliver it so we want to ensure that every place can be availed of. If circumstances change and participants can no longer attend the training, we would appreciate if you could please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the place out to others on our waitlist.
