Child Safeguarding Statement & Risk Assessment Workshop

October 2, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm IST
NYCI Logo

Safeguarding Risk Assessments is a key part of every Child Safeguarding Statement. It’s important we consider the ways in which young people may be harmed so we can ensure we have the appropriate measures in place to reduce both the likelihood of this harm occurring and the impact of the harm. Tusla’s audit of the sector in 2023 found that one of the main areas of non-compliance was risk assessments.

We wanted to support youth work organisations to ensure their Child Safeguarding Statements are compliant with the legislation and meaningful for staff, volunteers and young people. This event aimed to provide a space for organisations to build their knowledge and investigate what a comprehensive risk assessment looks like, with opportunities for advice and guidance from the experts.

This event explored the following items:

  • Findings and learnings from the 2023 Audit and the Youth Consultation on Child Safeguarding Statements from Tusla
  • Risk Assessment Training from an expert in safeguarding
  • Discussion around Controls and Safeguarding Measures for reducing risks
  • Workshopping your Safeguarding Risk Assessments with advice and guidance from the experts
