Child Safeguarding Statement & Risk Assessment Workshop

October 2 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm IST

NYCI Logo

Safeguarding Risk Assessments are a key part of your Child Safeguarding Statement. It’s important that we consider the ways in which young people may be harmed so we can ensure we have the appropriate measures in place to reduce both the likelihood of this harm occurring and the impact of the harm. Tusla’s audit of the sector in 2023 found that one of the main areas of non-compliance was risk assessments.

We want to support youth work organisations to ensure their Child Safeguarding Statements are compliant with the legislation and meaningful for your staff, volunteers and young people. This event will provide a space for organisations to build their knowledge and learning on what a comprehensive risk assessment looks like, with opportunities for advice and guidance from the experts.

The proposed breakdown of the day will be (with a more detailed timetable to follow):

  • Findings and learnings from the 2023 Audit and the Youth Consultation on Child Safeguarding Statements from Tusla
  • Risk Assessment Training from an expert in safeguarding
  • Discussion around Controls and Safeguarding Measures for reducing risks
  • Workshopping your Safeguarding Risk Assessments with advice and guidance from the experts
