Are you a youth worker supporting young people in the international protection system (young asylum seekers or refugees)? If so, our new network for youth work practitioners will be of interest to you.
Over the last 18 months, the number of young asylum seekers in our communities and in our youth services has dramatically increased. Alongside the traditional challenges facing young people, living in IPAS accommodation brings many additional challenges. Young people may have experienced trauma before arriving in Ireland and later within the international protection system. Young asylum seekers can struggle to achieve a sense of belonging and connection while living with uncertainty about their future.
We want to create a network of youth work practitioners to share information, practice and insights and that can draw in expertise to build capacity. We also want to connect projects to build links for young people who are transferred to other areas of the country.
To express interest in joining the network please fill out the form below. The network will meet 6 times a year online, with occasional offers of in-person events or training.
Our first in-person event will take place in Dublin city on 13th September. You can join the network even if you cannot attend this event.
