Equality and Intercultural Programme Officer
Reporting to
Equality and Intercultural Programme Manager, National Youth Council of Ireland.
Location
Office base will be at 3, Montague Street, Dublin 2 with travel for work required. NYCI is currently piloting a hybrid model of working.
Hours of Work
Full time 35 hours per week (some flexibility will be required, such as evening/weekend work).
Duration
One year (any extension is subject to receiving new funding stream)
Remuneration
€35,779 – €42,094

Child Safeguarding

Role and Purpose
The Equality and Intercultural Programme Officer will deliver a project supporting the inclusion of International Protection applicants in youth work and enhancing their access to information.
This is a dynamic role requiring a strong track record in building and supporting practice networks; building relationships with key stakeholders to create sharing hubs; understanding the IP system and information needs of young people; training and facilitation skills, good project management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver on three key objectives:
- Develop and maintain 6 county-based hubs (networking events) with key stakeholders to work toward linking young people in International Protection system with youth work opportunities in the area
- Maintain and build our Community of Practice network of youth workers working with young people in International Protection system
- Working with Youth Information Centres and NGO experts to collate and create communication processes to convey the information young people in International Protection need to successfully navigate systems of support (education, legal processes, health and well-being needs, accommodation, age assessment appeals, access to specialised services such as LGBTQI+, psychosocial, aging out of care etc.)
Project Administration:
- Administration as related to the delivery of project.
- Record keeping, report writing.
Work in collaboration with the Equality and Intercultural Programme Manager and other programme team members
Contribute to the development of the Equality and Intercultural Programme strategic goals in line with NCYI’s Strategic Plan.
Any other tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Attainments
Essential:
- Hold a relevant third-level qualification in Youth Work, Global Youth Work/Global Citizenship Education, Climate Justice, or Education equivalent (Note: candidates with exceptional, relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of degree qualifications).
- Have policy making experience
Desirable:
- Other relevant educational qualifications such as Training/Facilitation.
Experience
Essential:
- 2 years post qualification working in Global Citizenship Education, Global Youth Work, training, or Youth and Community Education and learning environments.
- Demonstrated capacity of building and maintaining relationships at all levels.
- Experience of designing, writing, or contributing to the development of policy documents and educational resources on global justice issues and/or the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Experience in the use of monitoring and evaluation tools.
Desirable:
- Experience in working directly with youth workers, youth leaders, and young people.
- Experience in working in partnership directly with youth workers, youth leaders, and young people.
- Experience in working in partnership, collaboration, and advocacy.
