Lisa Downes

Personal profileLisa Downes is a youth worker with the ‘Talk about Youth’ project based in the  St Andrews Resource Centre, in Pearse street, Dublin 2.. Lisa has been working in the community and Youth sector in the UK and Ireland since the early nineties.Lisa first became aware of the value of Youth Arts, whilst studying theatre studies in Dublin in the early nineties.Lisa has a particular interest in Youth Arts and has coordinated various projects in the last number of years, including  film, music, dance, drama and visual arts.Lisa is currently working on, the ‘letters in motion’ project focusing on 1916, which will reinterpret personal letters of correspondence, through a street performance and other art forms. Other creative works within her professional practice  include, music programmes, and film making (Reel youth). Focus and Ethos:The ‘Talk about Youth Project is grounded in the view that young people ‘learn what they live’. For this reason the project is focused on youth-led programmes encouraging creative and critical thinking.
