The NYCI Skills Summary project has been awarded the Job Bridge Award 2020! Skills Summary is an innovative way for young people to explore the skills they gain through non-formal education, including volunteering, and identify areas that need development. Skills Summary is a free and easy to use online tool that captures and measures the transferable life skills that young people acquire, building confidence, so that they can better communicate the value of these essential skills, both to themselves and future employers.
The Job Bridge project, co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme, aims to enhance the learning dimension of volunteering work through the development of a new approach to promote volunteering as a resource of personal and professional empowerment. The Job Bridge Award promotes European projects and initiatives for validating learning outcomes in volunteering. We presented the Skills Summary project at the REVEAL Conference, which explored how we can face challenges and find opportunities in the increased digitalisation of our work in creative and collaborative ways, where Skills Summary was among only three projects awarded the Job Bridge Award.
Skills Summary was awarded as the jury agreed that Skills Summary is a simple and clear project suitable to a volunteer context. The jury also saw advantages in the project being available both online and offline, and as a sustainable and transferrable project. Skills Summary would like to thank the Job Bridge Award jury for the opportunity to present our tool to an international audience.
Skills Summary is the result of a collaborative project between the National Youth Council of Ireland, Accenture and SpunOut.ie. It is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and recognised as a measurement tool in the Youth Employability Initiative.
