With over 600,000 young people eligible to vote in the general election, NYCI is calling on you to seize this opportunity to shape the future of Ireland. Whether it’s housing, climate action, mental health, or youth work services – your voice matters, and your vote has the power to make change happen.
First-time voters, this is your moment!
If you’ve just turned 18, congratulations – tomorrow is your first chance to have a say in shaping your future. Voting is simple, impactful, and a way to make sure your concerns are heard loud and clear.
As Kathryn Walsh, NYCI’s Director for Policy and Advocacy, reminds us: “Young people make up nearly 1 in 5 of those eligible to vote. That’s an incredible opportunity to influence this election and demand action on issues that matter most to you.”
Here’s how you can prepare:
- Polling stations are open from 7 am to 10 pm – no excuses, you have time!
- Bring valid ID and your polling card if you have it.
- Double-check your polling station location in advance.
- Visit youth.ie/vote for more details on the voting process.
Let’s also remember: Voting is powerful, but it’s only part of the conversation. We need politicians to listen to young people, too. By showing up at the ballot box, we can ensure youth voices are impossible to ignore.
Share this message! Encourage your friends, family, and networks to vote. Together, young people can drive real change.
