Following a busy Q1, NYCI’s policy and advocacy team continued strong momentum into Q2 2025, maintaining regular engagement with TDs and Senators to spotlight the priorities of young people and the youth work sector. With the establishment of new Oireachtas Committees this quarter, a key focus has been on building relationships with members of the newly formed Education and Youth Committee. Our goal is to ensure youth work features prominently in the Committee’s workplan—particularly in relation to key policy areas such as Opportunities for Youth. We’ve also capitalised on opportunities in the Oireachtas to raise youth issues through debates, Parliamentary Questions, and direct briefings, ensuring youth voices remain central to national policy discussions.
As Q2 draws to a close, our focus is shifting firmly toward Budget 2026. NYCI has now published our Pre-Budget Submission online, outlining key asks to support the youth work sector. Local and member advocacy is more important than ever at this stage, and we’re calling on our network to help amplify these priorities. To support your efforts, our Budget 2026 Advocacy Toolkit is now live—packed with resources to help you engage effectively with your local representatives.
