In this, the final blog in our present Comic Strip series, illustrator and performer, Patrick Sanders, presents some of his unique and insightful perspectives on drawing and creativity, reminding us just why -when working with children and young people in the arts, it’s important to lead by example.
Patrick Sanders is an Illustrator and performer based in Belfast, but his work has taken him across Europe. He specialises in using live drawing to document ideas and concepts at conferences and other live events. He has also created graphic reports for organisations using a comic book format, and his work has even been filmed to create informative animations.
As a performer, he creates shows for young audiences, and recent projects have mixed performance and illustration. His storyfinding/live drawing show ONCE UPON A TIME won Best Multi-Arts Project at the 2013 British Awards for Storytelling Excellence (BASE). Check out his latest show A BOY AND HIS BOX by Replay Theatre Company, which will be on at the Ark in Dublin in August.
