Capturing Magic: A Tool for Evaluating Outcomes in Youth Arts Projects
This resource will help you measure the outcomes of your youth arts project. This set of scales specially designed to provide a series of observable behaviours in a group of young people taking part in an arts project – particularly in a youth work setting – takes account of the 5 National Outcomes for Young People (Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures: The National Policy Framework for Children and Young People 2014-2020, Dept of Children and Youth Affairs,2014) and the 7 Potent Mechanisms for Delivering Improvements to Targeted Youth Programmes (Value for Money and Policy Review of Youth Programmes, Dept of Children and Youth Affairs, 2014).
Anne O Gorman is originally a drama practitioner, youth theatre leader and theatre director. She is Senior Project Officer, Youth Arts with the National Youth Council of Ireland and Course Co Ordinator of NUI Certificate in Youth Arts. Anne was previously Children’s Arts Officer at Draiocht (where she developed the dedicated children’s programme) and an outreach officer at the Abbey Theatre. Anne has been a board member of KidsOwn Publishing, a member of the selection committee for the inaugural Laureate na nOg and has represented the National Association for Youth Drama as Irish Animateur at the European Drama Encounter. She has written for the Irish Journal of Youth Work Studies, Youth Drama Ireland, Inis Magazine and practice.ie.
