NYCI, in partnership with Leargas and NUI Maynooth, are launching the new International Youth Work youthworkandyou.org module on International Youth Work in a European programmes context, at the What’s the Story?: Narrative in Youth Work and Youth Studies conference. This is the 4th Maynooth International Youth Studies Conference and takes place online on 24-25 June 2021.
We want to we celebrate the impact, benefits and outcomes of international youth work and youth work in general and invite submissions. This is an opportunity for an enriching sharing of perspectives, experiences and insights of international and also local youth work.
The youth work sector makes a positive and significant contribution in the lives of young people. Too much of the excellent work undertaken by youth work organisations is unseen and unheard by politicians, policymakers and the public in general. NYCI, in partnership with member organisations highlights this work through the “Youth Work Changes Lives” campaign, showing the positive contribution of youth work to young people, local communities and society as a whole. This is an opportunity to explore the use of story and narrative and their use in describing and explaining what youth workers do and how they do it; what young people do in and through youth work; what its impact, benefits and outcomes are (i.e. what happens or changes as a result of youth work); what its nature and purpose is at the broader societal level and how it relates to other areas of policy and practice.
