Policy and Advocacy Forum

About the Forum

NYCI has a Policy and Advocacy Forum for members. This initiative aims to foster a collaborative environment for sharing updates, strategising on policy developments, and enhancing networking opportunities among our members.

The Policy and Advocacy forum is not a decision-making body, but rather an initiative sitting under the NYCI Director of Policy and Advocacy to support members to share updates and intelligence, collectively strategise on policy and advocacy developments, and to support networking and peer engagement for relevant staff across member organisations.

The Members Quarterly Policy and Advocacy Forum will include the following components:

  • NYCI Updates
  • Member Sharing
  • Open Discussion

Purpose

The primary objectives of the forum are to:

  • Create a collective space to share updates and intelligence.
  • Improve the feedback loop from NYCI to members and among members on their own policy work.
  • Strategise collectively on policy and advocacy developments.
  • Provide a space for networking and peer engagement for relevant staff across member organisations.

Format and Frequency

  • Format: 90-minute online meetings (in-person meetings can be arranged if preferred by members).
  • Frequency: The forum will take place four times a year, with dates agreed upon by members.

Expected Outcomes

Through this forum, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Enhanced connectivity among members and a better understanding of each other’s policy and advocacy work and relevant campaigns.
  • Improved awareness of NYCI’s policy and advocacy efforts.
  • Opportunities for members to influence and contribute to NYCI policy work.
  • Better-informed NYCI on members’ policy and advocacy work and emerging issues.
  • Improved information sharing and collective strategising on policy issues.

Participation

This forum is open to staff and volunteers in member organisations who have an interest in policy and advocacy. We encourage all relevant staff and volunteers to participate and contribute to this collaborative effort.
