You can register to vote if you are aged 16 or over, and will then become eligible to vote when you are 18.

To register, you’ll just need to provide:

  • your PPSN
  • your date of birth

The above are needed for your local authority to confirm your details.

That’s it! You’ll be ready to vote, should an election or referendum be called

Can you please share this information?

Will you spread the word about how easy it is to register to vote?

By sharing with your friends and family on social media, you’ll help to get more young people signed up to the register, and make sure our Government takes your voices into account on issues that matter to you.

3 reasons why your vote is important…

  1. It gives you a say on important issues that affect you – from roads and recycling, to education and climate change, to housing and employment.
  2. It gives you the choice to vote for your local and national representatives, if you don’t vote, other people get to choose who represents you.
  3. Elections can be called at short notice – if you don’t register 15 days or more before an election or referendum, you may not be able to vote. It’s as simple as that!
