One World Week Training on offer now!

The National Youth Council of Ireland is offering training to those working with young people in how to deliver the One World Week (OWW) resource pack entitled "Just Us or Justice". The training is taking place from September until the week itself, which this year takes place between November 14th and 22nd.

The training will showcase a series of activities and enable participants to explore how this resource is relevant to the young people with whom they work. It will also introduce the OWW central action which will include celebrating the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Groups are encouraged to use the week itself to take action for justice and celebrate this important document.

About the One World Week Pack

"Just Us or Justice" is a resource pack that explores young people's understanding of justice. Aimed at youth workers, youth leaders, peer educators and others working with young people, the resource also asks what does justice mean “on the ground” in Ireland and then globally? Why should young people act for a more just world? With big issues like Climate Change and Economic Recession, should we take care of ourselves and ignore the rest. How do we respond as active citizens in a world that seems to be increasingly unconcerned about the countries and people that get left behind? How can we reach out and act for justice?

You can host a training for workers/volunteers from your organisation or can attend one of the public training sessions organised by the NYCI. A minimum of 8 people is required for each training and they last for 2 hours or are tailored to suit a particular group.

Cost:

The trainings are delivered free of charge. Organisations are requested to provide the venue and any refreshments they require. NYCI will provide the trainer and materials for the event. All participants will receive a free copy of the pack for use with their groups.
