For: Young people, Youth, Education, and Development Sectors

Introduction to the day…

  • 2017/18 an important year for the Sustainable Development Goals and Ireland
  • Ireland will report to the United Nations on the progress we are making at national and international levels at a meeting in New York in July 2018
  • Lauren and Paul, Ireland’s two UN Youth Delegates, are creating a report of young people’s opinions on key issues affecting them from a personal, local, national, and global perspective
  • This report will go to Government, policy makers and leaders in Ireland, Europe, and UN in 2018 and will help to inform the Irish reporting on SDGs progress from a youth perspective
  • This Summit will spend some time discussing and feeding into this report. Have YOUR voice heard!
  • This is YOUR opportunity to relay issues and solutions because young people are Generation2030 and it is YOUth who will live with the consequences of what and how we achieve the Sustainable Development Goals
  • The day will also see showcasing of work done by young people on the SDGs and we will hear from young people who have taken action on issues affecting young people
  • There will be games, interactive discussions, opportunities to meet with others and have the chats and have some fun!
  • You don’t want to miss this day!!!

At this event:

You will participate interactively to learn more about Peace, Justice and the Sustainable Development Goals.

You will hear from young people about their personal experiences.

You will meet people and organisations who are taking action.

You will have the opportunity to discuss the issues and take away ideas for yourself/community/school/organisation.

You will have the opportunity to feed into a longer term youth-led advocacy project.

The 17 Sustainable Development (Global) Goals – especially Goal 16 Peace & Justice -  will be used as a way of supporting learning about Peace & Justice (its causes and consequences; positives and negatives) and educating peers, colleagues, policy makers, politicians, and the public on key issues relating to Peace & Justice.

We can be the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation in history to end injustice and inequality, and the last generation to be threatened by climate change.

You can be part of this. Let’s Change the World!
