NYCI as a Representative Body

The National Youth Council of Ireland is the representative body for the youth work sector in Ireland. This is recognised through the Council’s status as the Representative Body for Youth Organisations under the Youth Work Act and as a Social Partner. NYCI maintains contact with a diverse range of external bodies. Representatives are nominated to a number of key national policy-making and Government bodies. NYCI’s role as a social partner has involved direct participation in the development of successive national programmes, including the current programme, ‘Towards 2016.’ In addition, NYCI regularly presents submissions to national commissions and statutory task forces. It is regularly invited to participate on consultative groups and official bodies.

NYCI has the right to nominate people for consideration as members of:
