Catholic Youth Care

Catholic Youth Care (formerly Catholic Youth Council) (CYC) was founded in 1944 and it supports and services youth work and youth ministry in the Dublin Diocese.

It promotes the physical, personal, social and spiritual development of young people in the diocese through a wide variety of initiatives, which include:

  • Faith initiatives, which serve young people and challenge them to Christian living.
  • Programmes, training, events and activities for youth clubs/groups and adult leaders.
  • Co-ordination and support for summer programmes, which provide educational and recreational programmes for children and young people during the summer months.
  • Programmes which promote social inclusion amongst young people.
  • Promotion and encouragement of youth arts activities. Training courses, workshops and support services are provided yo youth activities in dance , youth theater, music and other art forms.
  • Crime diversion projects.
  • Drug Prevention Initiatives.
  • Outward bound programmes.
  • Youth Information Centres in Bray, Clondalkin and Dun Laoghaire.

CYC has five houses in Co. Wicklow which are suitable for youth group holidays and retreats namely:

  • Arklow Rock: 20 beds
  • Brittas Bay: 14 beds
  • Oakwood: 32 beds
  • Teach Chaoimhin, Glendasan: 30 beds
  • Teach Lorcain, Glendasan: 15 beds
